Jataayu fought a fierce battle with Raavana to save SeetaMaata. Jataayu was critically injured by Raavana’s devastating arrows. His body was filled with arrows and wounds.

“He then noticed SeetaMaata whose eyes were filled with tears. (Unable to bear her plight) Jataayu pounced back onto Raavana, ignoring the arrows rooted into his body!” Then, Jataayu broke Raavana’s bow, killed the charioteer, killed the horses pulling his chariot and broke his chariot into pieces.

By putting his life on stake to protect SeetaMaata, Jataayu set an example for the saying “परोपकारार्थं इदं शरीरम्”.
