श्रीमद्वाल्मीकिरामायणे अरण्यकाण्डे नवमस्सर्गः (२४व श्लोकमु)

SeetaDevi told a moral-story to ShriRaama with the anxiety that ShriRaama should perfectly follow Kshatriya dharma (His Varna-dharma) as well as Tapasvi dharma (prescribed by His step-mother Kaikeyi), though the two dharmas are, in spirit, contradictory to each other.

After telling this moral story, SeetaDevi spoke this beautiful shloka:

“Out of the intimacy we both have with each other, I have reminded You this story. Please do not consider this as a teaching (by Me)”. Who is qualified enough to speak about Dharma to You?

We must learn the humility and the soft-tone in which a shishya (wife) must converse with his Guru (husband). A shishya must never sound like correcting the Guru, even though he is anxious to correct the Guru. At the same time, the shishya also should strive to uphold the dharma of his Guru and question the Guru, if needed; however in the right tone and spirit.
