दीयमानां न तु तदा प्रतिजग्राह राघवः । अविज्ञाय पितुश्छन्दं अयोध्याधिपतेः प्रभोः ॥

श्रीमद्वाल्मीकिरामायणे अयोध्याकाण्डे अष्टादशोत्तरशततमस्सर्गः (५१ श्लोक)

Overwhelmed by the amusement that ShriRaama indeed was able to handle Shiva’s bow, King Janaka offered his daughter, Sita, to marry ShriRaama.

Then ShriRaama told Janaka that He will not be able to accept Sita unless His father, Dasharatha, orders Him to do so. (This is the meaning of the above shloka).

For the youth of today, these words of Lord ShriRaama should be eye-openers, which declare that parents are the authority to decide progeny’s marriage.
