Realizing that there are no more ways to persuade ShriRaama to come back to Ayodhya, Bharata helplessly resorted to doing a niraahaaradeeksha (fasting) and obstructing ShriRaama. Then ShriRaama spoke this dharmic verse and stopped Bharata:

“In order to fight injustice, a Brahmin can resort to niraahaaradeeksha, by sleeping on one side (this is because he is supposed to lead a harmless living). Whereas, a kshatriya, like you, is not permitted to do niraahaaradeeksha (as a kshatriya should use his strength and courage to fight injustice). Hence leave this effort at once”.

If only our society remembered these dharmic words of ShriRaama, we would not been such a weak society where we cover our weaknesses and laziness in the name of Ahimsa. Nor we would see so many politicians doing the drama of a dharna!
